Verizon Minutes Used Firefox Extension Version 0.6
Version 0.6 has the following features:
- configure what usage number is displayed in the status bar. Choices are: peak only, peak + off peak (for users whose off peak minutes are not free).
- show the last call information for the phone number specified in the option menu when family plan total is displayed.
if you are using firefox 1.5.0.1, please upgrade to version 0.7.

This software is not working correctly. It keeps popping up a window saying, "XXXXX"
What I tried to do is Right-Click on the little message window bottom right of the Firefox Window, then I go to "Options" and replace the number. It still doesn't work. If I need to go to "OPTIONS" somewhere else, where do I go? Thanks.

Oops, sorry, I forgot to fill in the message in the little pop up window. Here it is again, correctly:

Great work! This is really cool. I would love to see some more things added to your extension, and was wondering if you would be willing to share the source. I can send you patches to the little extra additions I'd like to see. I'm a Verizon customer and would find this VERY useful. Some of the things that would be nice are:
* Support for Firefox 1.5.X
* In the information displayed in the status bar, display the number of days left in this billing cycle (that way one knows how many minutes to budget over the next X days)

A very useful extension !!
Suggestion: For family plans it will be good if it would display (in the tooltip) the total minutes of the family and the individual minutes of a given phone number in the family plan, so that eash user can monitor his own minutes.
This extension works great for me. There is only one option I would like to see added. It would be good to have an option to manually update the usage stats instead of waiting for the specified time set in the options. Putting it in the right click context menu of the displayed minutes at the bottom of the browser window would be good. My problem has to do with switching proxies. I use Firefox on my work laptop and have to switch the proxy setting on or off, depending on where I am. If the proxy setting is not on when I start Firefox at work, the extension will just sit there and not display the used minutes. It is not until I turn on the proxy then restart Firefox that the extension will work. The same thing happens at home if I leave the proxy on. It would be a lot easier if there was a manual update feature in the extension. Besides that, the extension is great. Thanks.
next version will have a "update now" option in the context menu when you right click on the status bar.
This extension works nicely v0.5. I would say this is one of the most useful extension there is if you're a Verizon customer.
Feature request: Please give an option to disable security checking upon opening Firefox. It's kind of annoying to have to enter the password in everytime I launch Firefox.

the security password is prompted by firefox. i cannot really control that. you do want to save your password securely using firefox's password manager. if you really want to disable the master password, read this page:

I love the plugin, but it stopped working when I updated to Firefox 1.5.0.1. The plugin is also no longer listed on mozilla's extensions page. What's up?
the reason it disappeared from Mozilla's site is because Verizon complained about the extension and we are trying to sort it out.
in the meantime, i realized fixing it for 1.5.0.1 should be quite trivial. could you try it at this location?

I tried the link and the file opened as an excel file. Maybe I did something wrong, but it didn't work for me.

The version for Firefox 1.5.0.1 works just fine for me. =)
Your link to the download link for firefox 1.5.0.1 takes you to some other oddball page.
There is no updated ver. to download.

When trying to install .6 of the extension I'm still getting the error "Verizon Minutes Used 0.6 could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 1.5.0.1. (Verizon Minutes Used 0.6 will only work with Firefox versions 0.9-1.5)" I've tried both of your links. PLEASE fix this because I really loved this extension! Great job! Thank you.

Winston, your newest update worked perfectly with Firefox 1.5.0.1. The only problem is that as yo have the link posted on the blog, it does not show the entire link due to column width. (I was able to pick up the full link by viewing the page source code). One I got it that way and restarted Firefox, it worked great. Thanks again!

For 1.5.0.1, don't use the links that are in red, those are version 0.6 for Firefox 1.5.
Grab the links below the red sentence for version 0.6a for Firefox 1.5.0.1.
Thanks cpagirlnc. I got it! I would swear that I tried that link yesterday and it didn't work but I was also overwriting the other version xpi file, so who knows. All that matters is that it's installing today. Thank you for your help and THANK YOU for this extension!

WHY not color code your minutes with a PRE warning as opposed to a POST warning?
HOw about YELLOW if your are within 60 minutes used. And/or you have so many days left on your monthly plan with only some many minute left?
That's what Verizon doesn't want you, the CUSTOMER, to know as they make a lot of profit off of over minute plan usage.
GREAT WORK, and don't let Verizon push you around. I am pretty sure the Electronic Frontier Foundation will back you up in not time if Verizon gives you trouble on this as well a lots of consumer groups. Heck, don't be surprised if you extension is not mentioned in Congress.
