Verizon Minutes Used Firefox Extension Version 0.9

The new version fixed the problem with monthly minutes usage projection. Many thanks to Jeremy Hipp for helping me find the bug -- parseInt("08") actually treats the integer as octal.

You can download the new version here here .(save the file locally and then open it from Firefox: File->Open File...)

I updated your extension to version 0.9 and filled out the Verizon information and choose my settings from the options menu. When I click the OK button, nothing happens, the Cancel button works but obviously that doesn't help with configuring this extension to work properly. Am I filling something out incorrectly or what? Please help, thanks.

Awesome update, thanks :)

Is there any "official" way to make feature requests? I was just going to request to display the total txt messages sent in the toolbar as well as minutes used.

Thanks!
Josh

Winston - Running Firefox at home in 98SE (I know). Is this compatible?

I got the following error message when I tried to install: 'Firefox could not install the file at ... because: Invalid hash file (possible download corruption)'.

Tried it twice; same problem both times.

Thank you.

Mark,

i never tried it on 98. it should work.

dont know why you got a download corruption. try to open the file with winzip. if it can be opened, then it's not corrupted.

Re: feature request

Josh,

there is no official way to request new features. i also have very limited time to work on any new features. and i don't even have a verizon account to test any new feature.

on the other hand, make your request a little bit more clear. i will keep track of it and work on it if possible.

winston. is seems the projection is only basing on 1 day for instance yesterday i had 120 minutes it said 1800 projected today 140 it says 2115 since i have not used another 120 minutes today it should not be higher should be lower.

if you want to test features please let me know i can test for you if you are interested.

the projection basically projects how many minutes would be used if you continue using the minutes at the current pace. the formular is basically like this:
projection = minutesUsed/elapsedDaysThisMonth*30

but there are only 22 days out of 30 that are not weekends so perhaps that needs to be modified

If you do add features to the extension please consider an option to warn if we reach a userdefined percentage of text messages.

The simplest way is to ask us how many test messgaes our plan has then subtract the opteher recieved and sent text that you already obtain.

I've download the latest extention but when I hold my cursor over "checking usage" next to the Verizon logo it says "Verizon is currently unable to display your current balance". Although the Verizon site does indeed dispaly my current usage, under Billing it says, "The System is currently unable to display your current balance. Please check back later."

Is it because I haven't been billed yet, the program doesn't seem to be working?

Hey Winston,

My usage shows 1022 minutes and my projection shows 989 minutes... Not sure why this is happening but thought I'd report it.

Two questions,
1) are you interested in maybe some help on the coding?
2) Think this could be moved from FF to Google homepage?

I got a call from Verizon yesterday saying I had logged in and check my minutes many thousands of time last month. I said I have a plugin that checks my minutes throughout the day. The lady said that it is a violation of the terms of service of my phone and that I need to stop it!!!

If they call again I will ask them if they would prefer that I switch to Cingular.

Also asking if this could be updated to work with Firefox 2.0 (RC1 is now out)

Otherwise, it works very well for me! Now that I've upgrade Firefox though I miss the plugin.

Due to some issues with scripting on Firefox 1.5.x, I started using Opera and I was wondering if you had any plans to create a "widget" for use in Opera?

to the person who posted above about Verizon calling you... how do they know what web-browser you're using and that you have the extension?

Winston,

I think they a playing with things. I just moved up to FF 2.0 rc2 from rc1. All of a sudden I am getting "failed to login". I select "Go to Verizon Billing Site" and I get my username and password populated and I can go forward.

Anyone else get this result?

Greg
