Verizon Minutes Used Firefox Extension Version 0.93

The new version now saves the last minute usage data so that re-starting your Firefox won't trigger an automatic check.

The new version also addresses the login problem surfaced recently. Many thanks to Christie for helping me out.

You can download the new version here .

since mozilla refuses to host this extension (see previous blogs and posts), and i don't have the resource to host it myself, i am afraid there is no possibility in the near future to have the auto update capability.

I've started getting the same problem with v 0.93 that happened to 0.92 -- manual "check usage now" works, but automatic checks (inc. at startup) fail. I get the popup error message, "Failed to login using the provided username/password. Make sure your region setting is correct in the option menu."

Using Firefox 2.0 on WinXP SP2.

thank you so much!!! there was a similar extension that was originally made for verizon back in firefox 1.0 but ever since the update to 2.0, i was never able to find this must-have extension until now, thank you!

ok - scratch that previous comment - this IS the same extension i used back in the old firefox, but i guess i was under the assumption that whoever wrote it stopped working on a new version since it could no longer be hosted on mozilla's site, WHAT A SHAME!! this is an absolute must have extension for any firefox user, let's DIGG this site!

Wouldn't it make sense to convert this to Greasemonkey script? It's a utility that's only meant for one web site. Sorry if this sounds naive. I haven't been programming Firefox for all that long.

The sprint minutes used script is coming along. I've replaced most of the instances of RegEx with DOM parsing, which is a lot cleaner, and probably easier to adapt to web site changes.

I plan to add a few things in addition to the ticker, like retrieval of basic plan information so that the user gets alerted to the cost of overage, and options offered by the vendor for overage relief without contract signing (these aren't listed on the Sprint web site).

Thanks for such a terrific idea!

First, I want to say that I love this addon and it works perfectly for me.

Second is a small request. Would it be possible to add a toggle to either:
a) hide the verizon logo or
b) Reduce it to a little V or something.

Reason being that I have a crapload of extentions that sit in the status bar and the verizon logo takes a decent amount of space.

Thanks!

Yes, this seems to be broken as of today (2/17/06). I am getting a "failed to login" message now.

Verizon seems to have cleared the login information from their login page. Just go to their website and put in your account and password and save it, then the extension will work again.

Seems to work only if I'm logged on to the Verizon billing page.. then it works (but would be unnecessary)... If I log out of the Verizon page, the extension reports a login error.

yep, only seems to work if logged into the verizon page. I tried having firefox remember my password, but that did not work.

VZW did a site update today and I'm having the same problem as others have posted. I tried deleting all vzw cookies and it didn't work.

It seems to fully work if you put in your phone number instead of your login.

If you have a family plan, the number you indicate is the primary when you login to verizon's site is the one to use.

Allow me to get in line with everyone else. For a day or so now its been failing to log in, unless already logged into the verizon site. Wonderful piece of software look forward to having this issue resolved.

deaxes is right. If you use your primary phone number instead of your username, then it seems to work fine.

I can confirm, same issues here. Seems it (the extension) only works when I am logged into the VZW site.

It seems VZW may have changed the login, by asking to confirm the primary phone # (if more than one number on the account) This was the first time I have actually logged into the site in a while.

Not sure what this means, but thought it might provide some insight.

I should have captured the screen with Verizon's message, but was just not thinking. If someone else can, perhaps it may shed some light on the issue.

If I'm logged in to Verizon's website, I can login to the plugin by using the telephone number as Username.

It will stayed logged in even after I log out of Verizon's website - until the plugin tries to update. When it updates, login fails again.
